The update with minor version 26.3 for the Dynamics 365 Business Central 2025 release wave 1 is generally available.
Scope of minor version 26.3
Information about the update and the scope of changes included in minor version 26.3 can be found in the documentation: Update 26.3 for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central online 2025 release wave 1 ↗. The list of hotfixes included in the update can be found in the Microsoft support entry (link ↗).
Attention! There’s a new… agent in town!
Minor version 26.3 introduces several features announced for the 2025 release wave 1 that were not included in version 26.0 or earlier minors. Most notably, the new AI agent – Payables Agent is now available in a public preview for US, UK, AU & NZ environments with the 26.3 update.
In the release announcement I’ve already written about the functions and operational scope to expect from the new agent . The current version, available in 26.3 in selected regions, is – according to Microsoft – a version still under development, with limited functionality and availability (as is evident above). So it should be considered an experimental version.
Søren Friis Alexandersen ↗ from Microsoft encourages both clients and Partners to test out the new agent (in a sandbox environment), throw a purchase invoice at it, and see what the agent does with it. Microsoft is eager for our feedback, impressions, and ideas (clients are suggested to comment directly on the LinkedIn post ↗, while Partners should use Yammer I think) to make the Payables Agent even better!
The documentation page for the new agent on MS Learn is now available: Payables Agent overview (preview) ↗, though it will be updated in the near future. For instance, it will soon include a list of known issues in the current public preview version.
I also encourage us all to try out the new agent and share our feedback with MS. Personally, I believe that Payables Agent can bring tremendous benefits to clients and significantly assist users in their daily work by handling repetitive tasks within the Source to pay process!
Other feature changes
From the other features introduced in update 26.3:
- you can now Chat with Copilot to learn on how to use installed extensions in Business Central based on online documentation provided with the application and possibly also by searching for information using Bing search (link to announced description ↗, function available in public preview for now),
- enhancements to the first agent in Business Central – the Sales Order Agent, who will now be able to capture more sales (currently no link or details available),
- time to generate Copilot’s Summary for record has been cut in half with the update 26.3, and there’s now a button to copy the generated summary text to the clipboard (link ↗),
- Copilot’s autofill feature now can search the Internet using Bing search for better field value suggestions; the UX of this feature has also improved (link ↗),
- regarding e-document functionality, the ability to use the Continia gateway as a service provider for e-documents is moving from public preview to general availability (link to announced description ↗).
Hotfixes
Version 26.3 also includes a set of hotfixes for the platform and the application (link ↗):
This time, what caught my attention were:
- fixed issue with non-deductible VAT rounding when using reverse charge VAT (571561),
- fixed bug that allows to modify invoice discount without restrictions after sending the approval request and the status is Pending Approval in the document (578450),
- fix the slow performance of the average cost calculation in the specific scenario (581025),
- fix the device license permission issues caused by missing permissions for TableData 5405 Production Order (581071).
What’s new and planned for Business Central 26
The scope of planned changes that have been included in the entire 2025 release wave 1 is described in a separate news: What’s new and planned for Dynamics 365 Business Central 26 (2025 release wave 1).
Business Central online
New environments for BC online will now automatically launch on version 26.3. Existing BC online environments will receive an update to minor version 26.3 in accordance with the current and updated in March 2025 major version and minor version update policy for BC online environments ↗. Notification recipients set in the Business Central admin center under the Notification Recipients section will receive an e-mail informing them when the update will be available for their environment, along with a specified update window (which can be up to 5 months) or can be skipped entirely (minors only).
Business Central on-premises
For on-premises environments, minor version 26.3 is now available for download from the Microsoft Support site (link ↗) as a DVD image for all localization versions released by Microsoft.

Take BC 26.3 for a spin
You can now try, check, and test the new version of Business Central on your own! I wrote about different ways to create environments, e.g. for your own testing purposes, in the article Ways to create a BC test environment.
