Microsoft updates Dynamics 365 Business Central with minor version 25.1

External service providers for e-documents

Among the changes in version minor 25.1 is the addition of new external service providers for e-document exchange to BC. These services primarily support e-document management in countries supported by Microsoft’s localizations, as well as global services. Further integrations with e-document management services can be added by Partners by publishing the appropriate connectors on AppSource (link ^↗).

Microsoft intends to develop the functionality of e-documents in BC as a framework, a set of global and shared functions, rather than as ready-made solutions for a specific country. External service providers for handling e-documents will serve as connectors and, where required, will supplement the functionality in terms of local requirements. Whether Partners from local markets (looking at you, Poland) will publish local solutions for e-documents as an extension of this standard framework, or whether they will build entirely separate solutions alongside the standard… well, time will tell.

Experience enhancements to Chat with Copilot

This minor version will also bring a set of experience enhancements to the Chat with Copilot feature (currently still only available in the US) (link ^↗). Among the improvements are: increased speed in searching BC records by Copilot, improvements in data-related queries, Copilot can generate a view in analysis mode directly from the chat, it will also be aware of the currently open page, it is connected to other Copilot features activated in BC, has access to broader knowledge from Microsoft Learn, responses are more tailored to appropriate roles (administrative tips are given only to users with the right permissions), and so-called prompt-guides now have more examples and hints.

Hotfixes

Some hotfixes for version 25.1, that is worth noting, among others:

• fixes for the new Exchange Rates Adjustment report,
• fixing the error when partially invoicing the Purchase Order with prepayment and an invoice discount due to the prepayment amount to be deducted,
• fixes for the new replenishment feature (creating Purchase Orders) from the Project Planning Lines level + fixes for Project Tasks that have more than one customer,
• fix for report layout selection when mailing multiple customer/contacts simultaneously,
• fixing the calculation of the routing schedule when set up in parallel,
